Lemonade Day Hermosa Beach 2024

Our 2nd Annual Lemonade Day Hermosa Beach was a success! Presented by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, LA Chargers and Skechers, and sponsored by South Bay Credit Union and Leadership Hermosa Beach, this year's Lemonade Day featured 23 lemonade stands popped up all around Hermosa Beach, LA Chargers drumline and activation on Pier Plaza, Roundhouse Aquarium touch tank, and heeps of delicious lemonade.

What is Lemonade Day?

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce is proud to bring 'Lemonade Day' to Hermosa, Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Lemonade Day is a national project with many communities participating around the nation. The program is about teaching students about entrepreneurship. Signing up to participate means agreeing to complete a training program, getting certified with the health department, getting a financial lesson from our financial partner, and more.

This will be Hermosa Beach's second year in the program and we're excited to have Hermosa students participate. The purpose of the project is to encourage and support young entrepreneurs and teach them what it takes to run a business. Our young entrepreneurs are students in grades 3-8 who either attend a Hermosa School OR live in Hermosa Beach.

We have scheduled Lemonade Day during our Hermosa Beach Spring Sidewalk Sale weekend. This means that there will already be a large crowd of visitors and locals in Hermosa and this maximizes the opportunity for our student entrepreneurs! Folks who visit our stands will not only receive a map of all Lemonade stands, we'll also be having a competition and patrons can vote on their favorite booth and win prizes for visiting multiple booths!

The student winner will get an opportunity to compete at a national level.

 

Note: All lemonade stands have gone through our program and are certified to pop up on this day. This is *NOT* an event to encourage anyone to pop-up a lemonade stand, but rather to support the students who have gone through the entrepreneurial program. Thanks for your support and understanding!

PHASE 1 / PREPARATION

  • March 22 - Deadline to register for Lemonade Day.
  • April 1 - Distribution of workbooks & materials. You can pick up your workbooks at the Hermosa Chamber on 120 Pier Avenue, Mon - Fri, 11am - 5pm.

PHASE 2 / EDUCATION

  • April 2 @ 1pm - Lemonade Day Orientation via Zoom. Kick off the program with information & presentations including:
    • Food Safety Tips from LA County Department of Public Health
    • Business 101 from South Bay Credit Union
    • Marketing 101 from Hermosa Chamber of Commerce
    • Q&A
  • April 2 - Final day to confirm participation. Please email admin@hbchamber.net to confirm your participation in our program. If we do not receive a response from you, we will assume you are no longer interested.
  • April 11 - Deadline to submit your lemonade stand business name, Food Safety Certificate application & lease agreements.
  • April 19-21 - Pick up your t-shirt & Food Safety Certificate (must be displayed at your lemonade stand). Come by and pick up your goodie bag at the Hermosa Chamber. Our hours those days are as follows:
    • Fri - 11am - 5pm
    • Sat - Sun - 10am - 4pm

PHASE 3 / IMPLEMENTATION

  • April 21 @ 10am - Welcome Ceremony at Aprons Restaurant (1320 Hermosa Avenue). Kick-off Lemonade Day with a Welcome Ceremony! Light breakfast provided. All young entrepreneurs, mentors, City officials, sponsors and Chamber Board of Directors are invited to join us for a little celebration before the lemonade stands get set up.
  • April 21 @ 12pm - Lemonade Day! This is what you've been working towards! Run your stand and sell your lemonade, all while competing for Best Tasting Lemonade and Best Lemonade Stand (Most Creative). If you'd like to compete for Best Overall/Youth Entrepreneur of the Year, you must opt in and submit your business results by the April 28 deadline.

PHASE 4 / CELEBRATION

  • April 30 - Business results due to compete nationally. Click here to submit your business results.
  • May 15 @ 6pm - Participants get recognized at City Council. Official invite will be sent via email from admin@hbchamber.net.
  • June TBD - Overall winner of Lemonade Day gets recognized at State of the City.
  • August TBD - National winner is announced.
